The Toronto Blue Jays are monitoring Japanese right-handed pitcher Kaima Taira ahead of the off-season, according to a report from Sanspo's Kentaro Tsukazawa. Taira's Nippon Professional Baseball club, the Seibu Lions, is expected to post the 26-year-old pitcher to make him available to Major League Baseball teams through the posting system.
Taira recorded a 1.36 ERA across 146 innings as a starting pitcher during the 2026 NPB season, featuring a fastball that reaches triple digits alongside a diverse pitch mix. Writer Cynthia Ryley Delaney suggests Taira could serve as a solid option to bolster the back of the Blue Jays' starting rotation.
