In a season in which the Toronto Blue Jays struggled to hit home runs, Kazuma Okamoto’s power was a bright spot. No team in Major League Baseball finished with fewer home runs than the Blue Jays’ 152 long-balls. It’s not…

Blue Jays Nation's Cynthia Ryley Delaney writes that Kazuma Okamoto served as the Toronto Blue Jays' lone major power threat during the 2026 MLB season. The team hit an MLB-low 152 home runs, with Okamoto leading the club with 33 blasts. His total more than doubled runner-up George Springer's 15 home runs and accounted for over one-fifth of the Blue Jays' overall total.
Delaney notes that the 30-year-old rookie slashed .232/.310/.452 with a 113 wRC+ and a 28.8 percent strikeout rate. While Okamoto hit fastballs effectively, slugging 22 homers off heaters, Delaney highlights his struggles against breaking pitches and concludes his defense at third base was roughly average.
