Debut of prized acquisition will have to wait as Raptors opt to be cautious.

Kawhi Leonard sat out the Toronto Raptors' pre-season opener in Quebec City and is unlikely to play in the team's upcoming contest in Vancouver. Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic stated the franchise is exercising extreme caution to build Leonard up properly after he was a limited participant in training camp. Leonard's integration was delayed following an off-season trade from the Los Angeles Clippers that was held up for months.
Toronto could target an October 13 home matchup against the New York Knicks for Leonard's debut. Meanwhile, the Raptors were also without Allen Graves, Kyle Anderson, and Jamison Battle due to minor injuries, prompting a starting lineup featuring Ja'Kobe Walter, Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett, Scottie Barnes, and Jakob Poeltl.
