Washington Nationals infield prospect Devin Fitz-Gerald persevered through a challenging 2026 season on and off the field. The 21-year-old switch hitter, acquired in the MacKenzie Gore trade, played while coping with his mother Colleen's brain tumor diagnosis. After hitting nine home runs in May, he faced initial struggles following his promotion to Double-A before showing gradual improvement to finish the season strong.
