Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is reportedly set to make his combat sports return in a wrestling match against fellow ex-champion Frank Mir. According to Red Corner MMA, the bout is scheduled to take place at an AIGA event in California this November. The two fighters recently faced off to promote the contest.
Velasquez, who was released from prison this past February, has not competed in any format since suffering a knockout loss to Francis Ngannou in February 2019. The upcoming match against Mir comes 14 years after an initial Octagon matchup between the two former champions failed to take place.
