Dana White is not backing down. The UFC boss is publicly rejecting claims he is contractually banned from promoting the massive Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua heavyweight showdown set for November. Both Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren, who promote Joshua and Fury, have stated that a clause exists specifically to keep White out.
White doesn’t care.
Following a Zuffa Boxing event, he came out swinging. He directly challenged the idea that he would mislead the public about his involvement in one of the biggest fights in decades. He dismissed the contractual chatter from Hearn and Warren, who have been locked in a war of words with him for months.
At a press conference, White was defiant when asked if he was promoting the bout. “Do you think that I would publicly lie and that I would look like a f—ing idiot in front of everybody?” White asked.
He continued, doubling down on his position and questioning the narrative being pushed by his promotional rivals. “Do you believe that I would? What would be the point of that? Ah I was lying everybody, gotcha! What would be the point of that?”
His final shot was aimed squarely at Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn, daring reporters to check the facts with him directly. “Call Eddie right now and ask him if he knows where the fight is. Call Eddie and ask him who negotiated the contract for the fight?”
The confrontation sets up a major power struggle. The established boxing promoters insist their contracts are clear. But White, a disruptive force with significant financial backing, is acting like he holds all the cards. The battle for control of Fury vs. Joshua is now as public as the fight itself.
