The Story in 60 Seconds

Manager Ali Abdelaziz has denied suggestions that undefeated bantamweight Farid Basharat turned down fights prior to not being re-signed by the UFC. Abdelaziz stated on social media that Basharat accepted every opponent offered to him, including a fighter who missed weight by 10 pounds in 2024, maintaining that Basharat was always cooperative with the promotion.

The response follows comments from UFC CEO Dana White at UFC Edmonton, who noted that fighters holding a 16-0 record are usually not re-signed for specific reasons, such as being difficult to deal with or turning down bouts. Basharat won all seven of his UFC fights by decision, and his brother Javid was also previously released and signed with the PFL.
