The super-fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is signed, but the battle over where it happens is just getting started. Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh has shut down the noise, confirming no venue is set despite a bitter feud between promoters Eddie Hearn and Dana White.
The war of words is simple. Hearn wants the historic all-British clash on home soil in the UK. Others, including UFC boss Dana White, are pushing for a lucrative American event. But with Saudi money backing the fight, both promoters are just pawns in a bigger game. Their public squabbling means nothing until the man with the money makes his move. And he is not impressed with the chatter.
Alalshikh, the Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, took to social media to lay down the law. He made it clear that he is the one in control, not the promoters fighting for camera time. He directly addressed the conflicting reports and promoter claims.
“‘Till now I have not decided yet where the fight will take place and will work with me,” Alalshikh stated. He dismissed the ongoing speculation as fiction. “Some ppl are making up a stories about it [sic].”
His message was a direct shot at those trying to control the narrative. The final word from the Saudi chief was a reminder of who holds all the cards. “If you want to know the facts take it from me or The Ring. If you want to waste your time listen to others… I think you have tried me all past years and you know that what ever I say I do.”
The bottom line is clear. The fight’s location is not heading to America or staying in the UK based on promoter preference. It will be decided by Alalshikh. Until he speaks, everything else is just noise.
