Jackson Wink fighter Cody East revealed that Gable Steveson rarely took part in group classes or sparring sessions prior to his UFC 331 loss. Steveson was knocked out in just 12 seconds by Sean Sharaf in Los Angeles despite entering the bout as a heavy favorite. East stated that the Olympic gold medalist primarily focused on private sessions and mitt work with Jon Jones and Greg Jackson.
East emphasized that Steveson must make substantial adjustments to his training routine, particularly by facing live sparring, if he wants to progress in mixed martial arts. He also volunteered to serve as a sparring partner for Steveson ahead of any future UFC return.
