Tom Nolan said he specifically prepared to defend Renato “Money” Moicano’s body triangle and was ready to endure extended periods in the position during their UFC Vegas 123 main event.
Tom Nolan revealed he was fully prepared to lose early rounds to survive Renato Moicano's grappling before securing a third-round stoppage at UFC Vegas 123. Speaking after the main event bout, Nolan stated that his contingency plan was to stay composed and avoid submission mistakes against Moicano's elite body triangle.
Moicano controlled Nolan's back throughout the first two rounds until referee Dan Miragliotta stood them up in the second round. Nolan quickly took advantage on the feet, finishing Moicano via technical knockout with punches and elbows at 1:28 of round three.
