Eleven weeks after Du Plessis outpointed him in Oklahoma City, the former welterweight king calls the loss information, not a verdict, and keeps both doors open.

Kamaru Usman stated in an interview that he can still fight five championship rounds against anyone, refusing to commit to either welterweight or middleweight for his future. The former UFC welterweight champion reflected on his July 18 unanimous decision loss to Dricus du Plessis at UFC Fight Night 281 in Oklahoma City, calling the defeat a valuable lesson rather than a career verdict.
Usman noted that undisclosed pre-fight circumstances hindered his performance against Du Plessis and acknowledged that adapting to 185 pounds requires a dedicated camp. At 39 years old with a 21-5 record, Usman remains 0-2 at middleweight, leaving the decision open on whether he returns to 170 pounds or stays at middleweight.
