Spire Motorsports just wanted to create a cool story with the ex-Cup star

Kasey Kahne will end his NASCAR retirement to compete full-time in the NASCAR Truck Series during the 2027 season. Spire Motorsports confirmed the move, announcing that the 46-year-old veteran will drive the team's No. 77 Chevrolet Silverado RST. Kahne originally stepped away from full-time NASCAR competition back in 2018 due to health issues.
The campaign marks Kahne's return to chase a Truck Series championship following an 18-win career in the NASCAR Cup Series. Across six previous career starts in the Truck Series, Kahne captured five victories before stepping away from full-time racing.
