NASCAR insider Jeff Gluck dismissed suggestions that Toyota should have altered pit strategies to keep points leader Kyle Larson trapped a lap down during the South Point 400 at Las Vegas. Speaking on "The Teardown" podcast, Gluck argued that altering a team's strategy simply to hinder a rival at this stage of the postseason means a manufacturer has "lost the plot this early."

Co-host Jordan Bianchi argued that Toyota missed a key opportunity to limit Larson, who recovered to finish second behind race winner Chase Briscoe. The result extended Larson's championship lead to 40 points over Toyota driver Denny Hamlin, who finished 16th following a spin.
