On the last lap at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday, Carson Kvapil thought he would be sailing into the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series championship lead. That was before he saw a Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet bounce off the wall…

Hendrick Motorsports driver Corey Day credited his sprint car background for an aggressive final-lap pass on Carson Kvapil to win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Driving the No. 17 Chevrolet, Day led 136 of 201 laps and repeatedly rode the outside wall without lifting off the throttle, defeating Kvapil by 0.287 seconds.
Former driver Kenny Wallace praised the 20-year-old's performance, comparing his driving style to HMS star Kyle Larson. Day is set to remain in his seat for 2027 while preparing for a part-time Cup Series schedule with Spire Motorsports.
