The Story in 60 Seconds

Former NBA player Ed Davis is preparing to change his plea to guilty in a federal gambling and performance-fixing case involving Malik Beasley. The two former Minnesota Timberwolves teammates were indicted alongside four other defendants on charges that include sports bribery, wire fraud conspiracy, and money laundering conspiracy. Beasley, who has also agreed to plead guilty, is scheduled for a hearing on December 9.

According to federal prosecutors, Davis acted as a link between Beasley and co-conspirators, passing non-public information about Beasley's planned statistical output during Milwaukee Bucks games. Co-defendants William Brown, Robert Gorodetsky, Ernesto Plascencia, and NBA agent Paolo Zamorano allegedly used the advance tips to place fraudulent wagers worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
