Atlanta Hawks Legend and 2-Time NBA MVP Bob Pettit Dies

Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer and two-time NBA MVP Bob Pettit has died, as announced by LSU men's basketball and the Hall of Fame on Thursday. Pettit, selected second overall in the 1954 draft, spent his entire career with the Hawks franchise in Milwaukee and St. Louis.

Pettit was the league's first MVP in 1956 and the first NBA player to reach 20,000 career points. He guided the St. Louis Hawks to an NBA championship in 1958 over the Boston Celtics and won a second MVP award in 1959.
