"It's really kind of sad. It's Mickey Mouse, small market, like a ‘Hooterville’ kind of response."

Boston sports radio hosts Michael Felger and Tony Massarotti of 98.5 The Sports Hub criticized Celtics television broadcasters Drew Carter and Brian Scalabrine for taking on-air shots at former Celtic Jaylen Brown. During NBC Sports Boston broadcasts of recent games against the Chicago Bulls and Brooklyn Nets, Carter and Scalabrine repeatedly referenced Brown's recent remarks about Jayson Tatum, including his "lamb chops and gravy" comments and his league-leading turnover total from last season.
Massarotti labeled the broadcast commentary "sad" and "Mickey Mouse," arguing that local commentators quickly turned on Brown after his departure. Felger also argued that the Celtics' media coverage does fans a disservice by only highlighting negative stats after a player departs. The controversy followed Scalabrine walking back a previous claim on his SiriusXM show where he initially stated that Brown had demanded a trade.
