Denver Nuggets head coach David Adelman has confirmed that veteran wing DeMar DeRozan will serve as the team's primary reserve option off the bench for the 2026–27 season. The 37-year-old joined Denver on a one-year, $3.9 million veteran minimum contract following his offseason departure from the Sacramento Kings.
The move marks a significant transition for DeRozan, who has spent nearly his entire 17-year NBA career as a starter. Denver plans to keep its starting lineup intact while using DeRozan to anchor the second unit and provide offensive creation when Nikola Jokic rests.
