DALLAS — Winning will not be the primary objective when the Dallas Mavericks face the Houston Rockets twice in Macao next week, Mavericks coach Dusty May said Friday.
Dallas Mavericks head coach Dusty May stated that winning will not be the primary objective when his team faces the Houston Rockets in two games in Macao. The Mavericks play the Rockets at The Venetian Arena on October 9 and October 11 as part of the NBA China Games 2026. May described the international trip as a fact-finding mission to identify team weaknesses on offense and defense.
May noted that the preseason matchups against Houston will help Dallas evaluate its roster and settle on rotational lineups. Players Daniel Gafford and Tarik Biberović highlighted the importance of defensive communication and building chemistry for a heavily restructured squad. May has not yet determined if Santi Aldama or Morez Johnson Jr. will play during the Macao trip.
