The Dallas Mavericks need to move on from Caleb Martin, as his injury history, on-court fit, and fit within Dallas' new timeline are concerns entering the 2026-27 season.

Writing for The Smoking Cuban, Sameer Moosa argues that the Dallas Mavericks should move on from forward Caleb Martin. Moosa states that Martin no longer fits the team following a surplus of forwards added to the roster, including Santi Aldama, Zaccharie Risacher, and Cooper Flagg, which has left Dallas unbalanced and lacking playmaking after previously trading away guard Quentin Grimes.
The writer also points to Martin's recurring injuries, noting he has missed 48 games over a season and a half and is sidelined with a thumb sprain for the opener against the Houston Rockets. Moosa concludes that Martin's limited scoring average of 3.9 points per game and age do not align with Dallas' timeline.
