DALLAS — Zaccharie Risacher did not know he was going first overall until the very end. His workout in Atlanta had gone well, and the feedback was good.
Zaccharie Risacher revealed that direct conversations with Dallas Mavericks leadership transformed his perspective after being traded by the Atlanta Hawks. The former 2024 first-overall draft pick was surprised by initial trade rumors, but phone calls from president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri, general manager Mike Schmitz, and coach Dusty May made him realize how much Dallas valued him.
Risacher arrived in Dallas via a three-team trade involving the Oklahoma City Thunder on July 19. The Mavericks hold an option deadline on October 31 to exercise Risacher's fourth-year rookie option worth $17.4 million for the 2027-28 season.
