The Nuggets need to decide on DaRon Holmes's future soon. The clear choice is to decline his team option for 2027-28.

David Decker of Nugg Love argues that the Denver Nuggets face an easy decision to decline the team option on forward DaRon Holmes II for the 2027-28 season. With a deadline approaching on October 31, declining the option would clear $5.5 million in cap space. Decker writes that the Nuggets need financial flexibility as they navigate major salary cap issues above the second luxury tax apron.
Decker notes that Holmes currently sits low on the depth chart behind Zeke Nnaji and rookie Trevon Brazile. Holmes missed his rookie campaign due to an Achilles injury and saw limited playing time last season. Decker argues the team would benefit more by using the financial savings on minimum-contract veterans instead of keeping Holmes on the roster.
