Detroit Pistons restricted free agent Jalen Duren is expected to miss the team's media day on Monday due to ongoing contract negotiations. The 22-year-old center has been away from the team for much of the offseason, missing multiple summer team activities during the dispute. Duren has until Thursday to accept a one-year, $9.6 million qualifying offer that would allow him to reach unrestricted free agency next summer.

Detroit's latest proposal was reportedly a five-year, $200 million contract with weight stipulations that were poorly received by Duren and his representatives. Although eligible for a maximum five-year, $287 million deal, talks have stalled over playoff struggles, conditioning concerns, and the luxury tax. Duren averaged 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game during the regular season.
