The NBA is working to launch a 16-team league in Europe as soon as 2027.
EuroLeague clubs have reportedly rejected an initial proposal from the NBA to collaborate and merge into NBA Europe. The 13 shareholder clubs of the EuroLeague met in Italy and voted unanimously against the offer, considering the proposal unacceptable in its current form and feeling it undervalued the competition.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has been working to launch a 16-team European league as soon as 2027. Despite the initial refusal, reports indicate that the door remains open for potential future negotiations between the two basketball organizations.
