The 2026-27 NBA season officially kicked off today, featuring a slate of three premium matchups. The Los Angeles Lakers were not among this initial group of teams, but they won’t have to wait long for their season debut.
Both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors are dealing with numerous player absences ahead of their season-opening matchup at Crypto.com Arena. The Lakers have ruled out Cameron Carr and Adou Thiero, while Collin Sexton is listed as questionable. Meanwhile, the Warriors will be without Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody, Brandin Podziemski, and Kristaps Porzingis, although Stephen Curry is considered probable despite ankle soreness.
Despite the missing personnel, the Lakers will have Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, and starting center Walker Kessler available to play. Golden State is taking a cautious approach with Podziemski's back issue, while Butler and Moody remain sidelined for months with longer-term injuries.
