The Dallas Mavericks appear close to signing Walter Clayton Jr. in a valuable move the Golden State Warriors should be making.

The Dallas Mavericks are reportedly closing in on signing guard Walter Clayton Jr. to a two-way contract after he was waived by the Memphis Grizzlies, according to Marc Stein. The Sacramento Kings also showed interest following Ben Simmons' season-ending Achilles injury, while the Golden State Warriors have not pursued the former first-round pick.
Blue Man Hoop writer Peter O'Keefe argues that Golden State is missing a valuable opportunity by not waiving two-way players Malevy Leons or LJ Cryer to secure Clayton. O'Keefe contends Clayton offers strong upside and that the Warriors are overly conservative regarding roster continuity.
