Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob has responded directly to criticism regarding the team's quiet offseason, defending the decision to prioritize continuity rather than making hasty roster changes. Speaking to the San Francisco Chronicle, Lacob stated that sometimes the best deals are the ones not made, warning that rash trades can harm a team despite short-term fan approval.
Lacob also commended superstar Stephen Curry for accepting a two-year, $116 million contract extension, which was approximately $20 million below his maximum eligibility. Lacob explained that the discount provides Golden State with essential salary-cap flexibility for next summer, emphasizing that keeping Curry with the franchise for life remains the organization's primary objective.
