The Dream Shake's Darren Yuvan previews Houston Rockets guard Reed Sheppard ahead of the 2026-2027 season, arguing he is primed for a breakout year. Sheppard averaged 13.5 points, 3.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 39.4 percent on three-pointers last season, finishing sixth in NBA Sixth Man of the Year voting. Houston also posted a 17-4 record when he started.
Yuvan suggests head coach Ime Udoka underutilized Sheppard's perimeter gravity and that team defensive metrics show he can succeed despite individual limitations. However, Sheppard faces rotation competition this season following Houston's acquisition of Marcus Smart, the signing of Bogdan Bogdanovic, and the return of Fred VanVleet.
