Some find it hard to understand how a 30-something All-Star would be happy being shipped from a contender to a rebuilding loser.

Julius Randle expressed strong satisfaction with his trade to the rebuilding Brooklyn Nets, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post. Despite leaving a contending team, the All-Star forward explained ahead of a game in Washington that he values playing for a franchise where he feels genuinely wanted and appreciated.
Lewis argues that both Randle and the Nets mutually need each other during this transition period. Randle noted that while professional basketball is a business, experiencing validation and genuine appreciation from an organization provides an incredible feeling as he starts with the team.
