The San Antonio Spurs set an NBA Finals record with 14 first-half three-pointers but collapsed spectacularly, allowing the New York Knicks to complete the largest comeback in Finals history and win Game 4, 107-106. The stunning victory gives New York a commanding 3-1 series lead.
San Antonio produced one of the most dominant offensive halves in championship history at Madison Square Garden. The Spurs shot 53.8% from three-point range, scoring 76 points to build a 27-point halftime lead. The 14 made threes broke the previous Finals record of 13 set by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017. Devin Vassell scored 15 first-half points, making all four of his three-point attempts, while Victor Wembanyama added 14 points.
However, the Spurs’ offense disintegrated after the break, managing just 30 points in the entire second half. The Knicks seized control, chipping away at the lead before a furious fourth-quarter rally. Jalen Brunson led the charge with 36 points, while OG Anunoby scored 33. The comeback was completed when Anunoby tipped in a missed shot with 1.2 seconds remaining to give the Knicks their first lead since the opening minutes.
The result leaves the Spurs on the brink of elimination. The Knicks, who were overwhelmed in the first half, are now just one victory away from securing their first NBA championship in 53 years. The series returns to San Antonio for Game 5, with New York having the opportunity to win the title.
