The early MVP favourite is unable to play on Sunday night.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic has been ruled out of Sunday night's matchup against the Detroit Pistons due to low back tightness, according to the official NBA injury report. The 27-year-old entered the game as an early MVP favorite after playing 38 minutes in Friday's victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.
Doncic has averaged a league-leading 40.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.7 assists through eight games this season, coming off a 53-point performance on Friday. The Lakers, tied for first in the Western Conference at 8-2, will rely on secondary scoring options Austin Reaves and Walker Kessler against the 6-2 Pistons.
