LeBron James was given a warm welcome by Cleveland Cavaliers fans in his return even though he chose the Philadelphia 76ers during free agency.

LeBron James received a warm reception upon his return to Cleveland on Friday as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers. James, who chose to sign with Philadelphia as a free agent during the 2026 offseason instead of returning to the Cavaliers, visited Rocket Arena alongside teammate Dean Wade, who also previously played for Cleveland.
The 76ers entered the matchup with an 8-1 record, representing the best start in the Eastern Conference following a 112-106 victory over the Detroit Pistons. In that prior win, the 41-year-old forward became the first player in NBA history to achieve 16,000 career regular-season field goals.
