The Story in 60 Seconds

Former NBA star Blake Griffin revealed on the "Pablo Torre Finds Out" podcast that Amazon's broadcast production team surprised him by reviving his infamous 2017 Los Angeles Clippers "Pioneers" shirt. Before Amazon Prime Video's inaugural NBA season, Vice President of Global Live Production Jared Stacy tracked down copies of the shirt and distributed them to the entire production crew during a meeting.

The original shirt, worn by Clippers staff during Griffin's 2017 contract signing, placed his likeness alongside historical figures including Martin Luther King Jr., Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela, and Michael Jackson. Griffin, who was traded to the Detroit Pistons in January 2018 before retiring after the 2023 season, admitted he had attempted to block the memory of the shirt out entirely.
