The Story in 60 Seconds

The Milwaukee Brewers achieved a rare cross-sports milestone by sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. According to OptaSTATS, Milwaukee became the first team across MLB, the NBA, and the NHL to sweep an opponent that had swept them in the preceding postseason since the 1968 Los Angeles Lakers achieved the feat against the San Francisco Warriors.

The four-game sweep secured Milwaukee a trip to the World Series, marking only their second appearance in franchise history after losing in 1982. The 1968 Lakers previously accomplished the sweep reversal in the Western Division Finals behind Jerry West and Elgin Baylor before falling to the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals.
