Bron AI CEO Anish Gupta teased an upcoming name change following cease-and-desist letters from attorneys representing NBA stars LeBron James and Luka Doncic. The sports betting app faced immediate backlash over a social media advertisement that featured likenesses of James and Doncic without authorization, prompting the company to remove the promotional content from both X and Instagram.
The controversial ad depicted a person resembling James in a No. 23 jersey and also utilized the name, image, and likeness of other NBA players, including Giannis Antetokounmpo, Donovan Mitchell, and Dillon Brooks. James's media adviser Adam Mendelsohn criticized the campaign as an unoriginal bid for cheap clicks and social media engagement.
