Amid front office and coaching changes in Dallas, Mavericks center Daniel Gafford was the subject of some trade speculation this offseason as his new three-year, $54.4MM contract extension took effect. But with Dereck Lively II still making his way back…
Dallas Mavericks center Daniel Gafford has impressed head coach Dusty May early in the season while starting in place of the recovering Dereck Lively II. Despite facing trade rumors during the offseason following his three-year, $54.4MM contract extension, Gafford has maintained a strong interior presence alongside forward P.J. Washington.
Notably, Gafford worked on his outside shooting over the summer and made his first career NBA three-pointer during a recent victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Coach May specifically praised Gafford for his restraint and decision-making, noting he has prioritized dominating the paint rather than excessively hunting perimeter shots.
