Former Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers questioned Giannis Antetokounmpo's basketball IQ during an appearance on "The Bill Simmons Podcast." Rivers stated that while Antetokounmpo possesses great passing ability, he tends to force plays downhill rather than execute within a structured team offense. However, Rivers also endorsed Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra's ability to help Antetokounmpo refine his offensive execution.
The remarks emerged as the Miami Heat dropped to a 3-6 record following a 120-100 defeat against the Golden State Warriors. Antetokounmpo and Spoelstra had previously acknowledged the early-season adjustment process, specifically regarding how to balance offensive touches and spacing alongside co-star Bam Adebayo.
