The slip comes despite a standout season for the 25-year-old Minnesota Timberwolves guard, who averaged a career-high 28.8 points per game and earned his fourth consecutive All-Star appearance while guiding Minnesota back to the postseason.

ESPN cited Edwards' playmaking limitations as the primary concern, pointing out that his 3.7 assists per game marked his lowest assist rate since his rookie season. Minnesota altered its roster around Edwards ahead of the new campaign, parting ways with Naz Reid and Julius Randle while adding LaMelo Ball and Jonathan Kuminga.
