The Minnesota Timberwolves have strong goals to contend for an NBA Championship moving forward. A couple of Western Conference Finals appearances behind Anthony Edwards saw the franchise looking to add more help. Acquiring LaMelo Ball via trade in the offseason…

NBA analyst Stan Van Gundy labeled the Minnesota Timberwolves an overrated team in the Western Conference, describing them as merely a "solid sixth seed." Despite general optimism surrounding Minnesota's offseason acquisition of LaMelo Ball to partner with Anthony Edwards, Van Gundy stated that he does not see the team improving.
The roster underwent notable changes by parting with frontcourt players Julius Randle and Naz Reid to add Ball, while also bringing in Jonathan Kuminga. Van Gundy argued that while the backcourt will be entertaining, increased pressure falls on center Rudy Gobert, leaving the Los Angeles Lakers as the only top-six team Minnesota might realistically surpass.
