A trade proposal has linked Milwaukee Bucks center Myles Turner with the Charlotte Hornets, a move that would address needs for two franchises on different trajectories. The deal suggests Turner would join the Hornets, with the Bucks receiving Tidjane Salaun, Grant Williams, and the 18th overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft in return.
For Charlotte, acquiring Turner would provide a veteran floor-spacing center to anchor its young core of LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, and Kon Knueppel. After a strong finish to the 2025-26 season that saw them reach the play-in tournament, the Hornets are seeking to take the next step. The proposed addition of Turner is seen as a way to improve a roster aiming for its first playoff series victory. According to the proposal outlined by Sports Illustrated, “It helps the Hornets strengthen their young roster as they’re looking to win their first playoff series in franchise history, and it balances out their team by adding a stretch big opposite of Diabate, who is a great rim roller,”
The move would also create new offensive dynamics. “The Hornets also hope that the passing chops of LaMelo Ball help Turner find his groove.” Turner’s first season in Milwaukee was a disappointment, as the team missed the playoffs for the first time since 2016 and he averaged a career-low 11.9 points per game.
From Milwaukee’s perspective, the trade signals a clear pivot towards a rebuild. After a 32-50 season, speculation continues to surround the future of star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Acquiring a first-round pick and a developing prospect in Salaun provides future assets, while Williams is on an expiring contract that could be traded again. This move would be the first step in a necessary retooling process for a franchise facing significant offseason decisions.
