The New York Knicks are welcoming back Pistons legend Isiah Thomas in a management role. On Wednesday, the New York Basketball announced Thomas' new role on X.

The New York Knicks announced that former team executive and Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas will join their board of directors. The appointment takes effect when the Knicks become a public company during the first week of the season. Knicks fans reacted with frustration online, expressing strong disapproval over owner James Dolan bringing Thomas back into a leadership capacity with the organization.
According to The New York Post, Thomas' position focuses on shareholder governance and has no involvement in roster decisions or basketball operations. Thomas previously served as the Knicks' president of basketball operations from 2003 to 2008 and as head coach, a tumultuous tenure marked by poor results and an $11.6 million sexual harassment verdict against MSG.
