Towns enters the final guaranteed year of his contract at $57 million and holds a $61 million player option for 2027-28. The Knicks seek to avoid the luxury tax second apron, which contributed to losing Mitchell Robinson in free agency, while also managing future extensions for Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Miles McBride.
