The New York Knicks knew that it would be hard to repeat as NBA champions after they had the shortest summer out of all teams and spent weeks throwing parties in the “Big Apple” that would make the Great Gatsby…

The Orlando Magic defeated the defending champion New York Knicks 111-102 on Sunday night, dropping New York to an 0-3 start on the season. The Knicks became the first defending NBA champions to start 0-3 since the Dallas Mavericks in 2011. Despite starting the game on a 12-0 run and holding a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter, New York surrendered 40 points in the final frame to Orlando, who earned their first win despite missing Paolo Banchero.
Jalen Brunson struggled with efficiency, shooting 12-for-28 from the field, while New York's bench was heavily outscored 47-11 by Orlando's reserves led by Anthony Black and Tristan Da Silva. Franz Wagner took advantage of defensive switches to dominate the fourth quarter for the Magic. Knicks head coach Mike Brown noted after the game that the squad needs to execute the little things better until their shooting improves.
