OG Anunoby produced a stunning performance to lead the New York Knicks to a 107-106 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, completing the largest comeback in Finals history. Anunoby’s game-winning tip-in with 1.2 seconds remaining capped a 33-point night and put the Knicks one win away from their first championship since 1973.
Trailing by 29 points, the Knicks mounted a remarkable second-half rally at Madison Square Garden. While Jalen Brunson led all scorers with 36 points, it was Anunoby who sealed the win with two decisive plays in the final 16 seconds. He first blocked a layup attempt that would have extended San Antonio’s lead, before tipping in a missed three-pointer from Brunson to secure the win.
In response to the victory, New York City officials bestowed civic honors on the forward. Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal made an official declaration. He said: “In my power as Manhattan Borough President, I have declared today OG Anunoby Appreciation Day in Manhattan,”. The proclamation praised Anunoby’s “exceptional defensive abilities, athleticism, leadership, and unwavering commitment to excellence both on and off the court.” Staten Island Borough President Vito Fossella also announced a day in his honor.
Fossella highlighted the team’s resilience, stating, “Last night proves once again anything is possible, you’re never out of it, especially the Knicks this year”. He added, “Here in Staten Island, we celebrated from St. George to Tottenville to everywhere in between. So as a result, June 10, 2026, will forever be known as Day”.
The victory gives the Knicks a commanding 3-1 series lead as the teams head back to San Antonio for Game 5 on Saturday. A win would end a 53-year championship drought for the franchise and cement Anunoby’s status in New York sports history.
