The Oklahoma City Thunder needed to extend Cason Wallace ASAP, and they finally got the deal done.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed guard Cason Wallace to a five-year, $139 million rookie contract extension, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. The permanent extension carries an average annual value of $27.8 million, securing the 22-year-old's long-term future before he could test restricted free agency next summer.
Writer Jack Simone argues the deal is ideal for both sides despite future second-apron salary cap challenges for Oklahoma City. Simone notes the agreement cements Wallace alongside core players Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, and Chet Holmgren while allowing the perimeter defender to concentrate purely on the court.
