Anthony Black will enter the season without an extension, leaving the Magic with a contract decision that could get more expensive if he takes another step.
Anthony Black and Scoot Henderson are both entering contract years after the Orlando Magic and Portland Trail Blazers declined to reach rookie-scale extensions before Monday's deadline. Black averaged 15.0 points last season, but Orlando was reportedly hesitant to match a $22 million annual average salary. Henderson similarly missed out on an extension in Portland following an injury-shortened season where he appeared in just 30 regular-season games.
Elsewhere, the Dallas Mavericks retained center Moussa Cisse while waiving veteran Dwight Powell on Monday. Dallas kept Cisse amid frontcourt injuries to Dereck Lively II and Santi Aldama, fending off reported waiver interest from rival teams including the Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks.
