Legendary Los Angeles Lakers public address announcer Lawrence Tanter has passed away at the age of 76. Lakers icons Magic Johnson and Pau Gasol, along with LeBron James, Jeanie Buss, and general manager Rob Pelinka, paid tribute to the long-time announcer, whose career spanned four decades behind the microphone for the franchise.
Tanter began his role during the 1982-83 season, announcing 15 NBA Finals appearances and 10 championships across 43 seasons. In addition to his sports broadcasting career, Tanter worked extensively as a jazz radio disc jockey in Los Angeles.
