LeBron James was involved in several heated exchanges with the Madison Square Garden crowd during the Philadelphia 76ers’ season opener against the New York Knicks.

OutKick reporter Jon Root criticized WNBA star A'ja Wilson on social media following LeBron James' courtside confrontation with a fan. During his debut for the Philadelphia 76ers against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, James repeatedly exchanged words with hecklers. Root compared James' reaction to Wilson's confrontation with an Indiana Fever fan during the 2026 WNBA playoffs, claiming Wilson would have accused the fan of white privilege.
During the game, James corrected a spectator who seemingly questioned his origins, stating he was from Ohio rather than the West Coast. Despite the heckling, James recorded 14 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists to lead Philadelphia to a 106-100 victory over New York.
