This offseason was a period of transformation for Ja Morant. After his time with the Memphis Grizzlies came to an end, Morant prepared to begin a new chapter in his career with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Portland Trail Blazers head coach Micah Nori stated that the team does not expect newcomer Ja Morant to lead the roster. Speaking ahead of Portland's 123-118 preseason win over the Golden State Warriors, Nori emphasized that veteran players like Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday carry leadership duties, allowing Morant to focus on integrating with his new teammates.
Fadeaway World notes that Nori's remarks have fueled speculation that Morant could come off the bench. However, Damian Lillard strongly advocated for Morant starting alongside him, comparing their potential partnership to his previous success sharing Portland's backcourt with CJ McCollum.
