The Trail Blazers have waived Jeremy Sochan, leaving the former lottery pick looking for another opportunity just before the regular season. The team announced the move Saturday.
The Portland Trail Blazers have waived forward Jeremy Sochan ahead of the regular season, the team announced on Saturday. Sochan had signed a non-guaranteed training camp contract and will officially become an unrestricted free agent on Monday if he clears waivers. Portland now has 14 players on standard contracts and three on two-way deals, leaving an open roster spot while staying under the luxury-tax threshold.
Sochan, the ninth overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs, shot 62.5 percent across four preseason games for Portland. The 23-year-old previously spent time with San Antonio and the New York Knicks, holding career regular-season averages of 9.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists over 228 games.
